Review of Civilization 3 and Civilization 4

I have been playing Civilazation 3 for a while now. Though it is not the latest issue of this game, Civilization 3 caught my attention way back 5 years ago.

But what about this game, and why is it that it is not that popular among young gamers in comparison to DOTA, Starcraft, Prince of Asia, Counter Strike, etc.?

Well, first of all, if you are a graphics gamer, meaning you prefer to play high graphical games, Civilization is not for you. If you go for a fast phased, first person shooter game, Civilization is not for you. If you like strategy but fast moving game, Civilization is also not for you. But if you like a real strategy game that will make you feel like a real ruler of nation, then Civilization is definitely for you.

Civilization is a turn based strategy game that will cost an average of 8 hours to finish just one game. It does not contain heavy graphical requirements but once you get the idea of being a ruler, then you will definitely start to like Civilization.

The game is about taking the role of a ruler (depending on the nation that you want). Being a ruler of a nation, you will have to consider everything, your economy, technological advancements, political advancements, astronomical advancements, military advancements etc. All these things may affect how your nation will be more advantage than others.

This game will also give you a chance for diplomatic negotiations and agreements with other countries. Even military alliances and embargos. I have never seen such a strategy game as detailed as this. Once you get the idea of maintaining the balance of your economy, political, scientific, military, social aspects, then there will be a big chance for you to win the game.

Just a warning, this game is very addictive especially if you start seeing your nation's cultural territory is expanding its boundaries and your military conquests against other nations becomes succesful.
