Review of Asus AiGuru SV1 – Skype Video Phone

Skype is one of the fastest growing internet phones in the world. Even here in my own place, if people are not using Yahoo Messenger, they are using Skype.

One of the main features of Skype is their development of their own video phones that you can connect in your own PC. All you need is an internet connection. Asus AiGuru SV1 is not a cellphone, but an internet phone.

Asus AiGuru SV1 gives full video conferencing using PC and an internet connection. It is very straight forward to use. You can use a network cable to connect it to your PC or you can use it wirelessly. And of course it is easier to use it wirelessly. All you have to do is to enter your WEP or WPA key via the cursor key and on screen keyboard.

It is very portable and flexible. The housing is adjustable and it comes with rechargeable batteries. With these features, you can easily move it around the house.

Some people who already have this said that the on-screen keyboard is a little fiddly but using a laptop/pc keyboard and mouse makes it easier to use.

Welcome Solar Powered Phone: Blue Earth of Samsung

Even cellphone companies are now thinking green. Why not? Now that our world is facing lots of problems with global warming and economic crisis, it is only reasonable that we go to alternative renewable energy. It might be a little pricy now but I think this will be a good investment in the long run.

The Blue Earth of Samsung is built out of recycled water bottles. It also has a pedometer that tells you how many trees that you saved by walking instead of driving. It is the first touch screen phone with a solar panel at the back of the phone but without sacrificing the camera feature.

The solar panel is said to run the phone for 3 minutes in 10 minutes charging time using the solar panel. Not bad at all, especially in times that you have runned out of batteries.

In addition, Blue Earth has a widget-friendly TouchWiz interface and dedicated Talk and End buttons. It also comes with Bluetooth, Eco Mode and Eco Walk.

The price, internal storage capacity, media features and other data capabilities is not yet disclosed. I will be waiting for its coming updates.

Chikka Probably Not Compatible With Ubuntu

I tried installing Chikka Messenger in my Ubuntu using WINE. Downloading the files is never a problem. I installed it perfectly. To my dismay, all other parts of the installed new software are running perfectly except the Chikka Messenger itself.

I really do not know the issues behind the program. But Chikka is suppose to be a very light program that can easily be run through WINE. But the fact is, it won't work in my Acer Aspire 4330 with Ubuntu. I am not making a conclusion that Chikka can not be run inside Ubuntu, but it is PROBABLY incompatible with Ubuntu.

I would love to try Yahoo Messenger soon. So watch for my updates.

Sony Ericson C510 Review

Sony Ericson Cyber-Shot is one of my dream phones. This is why I am not getting my eyes off from this series. Surprisingly, Sony Ericson's C510 has made a great leap in its cellphone photo-technology.

To have a little glance of its specifications:

Its Smile Shutter feature made this phone unique from its predecessors. All you have to do is to smile and shot. By also having 3.2Megapixel camera with autofocus, it can certainly overtake your personal digital camera.

All I hope is that Sony Ericson will release this as an affordable Cyber Shot issue.

Unlock Your iPhone 3G

If you are a Filipino user or someone who has a problem with your use of 3G, guess what, this post is probably for you. Please do check this link: "Yellow Snow"

Please note however that Yellow Snow works with latest iPhone 3G firmware (02.28.00). If you only have a model not later than 2.2, just check the iTunes first before unlocking.

Furthermore, you will need to jailbreak your iPhone before following the procedure in Yellow Snow.

Very important note: There is an initial report that close to half of the unlockers where not able to make it. So I guess you have to be more careful in unlocking your iPhones.

Enegosyo.ph: Philippine Eloading Business for Filipinos

It has been more than a year that I am with Enegosyo. So far, I am completely satisfied with the services. But here's my personal review for this eloading business for my almost 2 years of using enegosyo business services.

Advantages
First of all, enegosyo loads almost everything. Not only almost all the phone networks (I don't know if it is already open to red mobile) is being loaded, but also covers internet cards and online games. It is like all in one sim eloading business. It is like having a mobile eloading store.

Compared to Smart and Globe eloading business, enegosyo offers a wider variety of loading service which makes it really a big plus in comparison to others.

Secondly, it offer via cell phone eloading and via computer (using internet) eloading. This means that if you only have a phone, you can have this business. If you have an internet connection, the more that you can have this business. Outstanding isn't it?

Disadvantages
The biggest disadvantage so far that I have seen with Enegosyo is the mode of eloading the ewallet. If you are living in the province and you are far away from any BPI bank, better not to have eloading business with Enegosyo. Bank charges are really high, around Php 50-100 per deposit to Enegosyo account except BPI.

Though Enegosyo provided the "Weepay", their card loading wallet, still, it is not available nationwide.

My advice, look first for the nearest BPI bank in your area if there is, before you engage in this business. BPI don't charge a penny in your deposits whether it is interbranch or local.

The second disadvantage is a lower rate of profit comparing to Smart and Globe. This is interconnected with the first disadvantage. If you are also paying for your deposits, then the lower your profit will be because not only that it will cost you a bank deposit fee charge, it also has a lower profit margin.

If you are also using only your cellphone, you will also loose 1 peso per eload, thus, another minus from your profit. But if you have an internet connection, loading through the internet is free of charge.

To solve this problem as I said, look first a BPI bank in your area. If you have a BPI bank, you can definitely maximize your profit with Enegosyo.

Review on LG KP500 Cookie

At last, LG500 is finally here. It's not a high end phone in comparison to iPhone or Omnia. But just like what everybody says, "you get what you paid for".

Nonetheless, LG500 Cookie has no other rival as of the moment being a semi-hi-end phone. It costs only somewhere from Php 11,000-12,000, a huge difference from Ominia and iPhone.

A small phone that can be grasp in your palm, Cookie is also excellent in its Active UI (user interface) being a touch screen phone, having an improved no-delay feature. This also comes with stylus with a little use because of easy navigation feature.

It has an 11.9mm real slim body, with matching 3" display screen, plus hand writing recognition function. A real sleek feature for a cheaper price.

Some set backs:
It has a modified audio jack which means that you cannot use the regular audio jack 2.3mm or 3.5mm (an additional proprietary intention of LG probably).

It has a 3.0Mega Pixel Camera with mediocre photo output.

Summary:
LG500 Cookie is not a hi-end touch screen phone. But it can do serve its purpose, to ditch the stylus with touch screen feature. It's not that expensive which means that it can be a good alternative against the hi-end touch screen phones.
